While driving is something that we do every day, it is also one of the most dangerous things we do. Between other drivers and road conditions, accidents are a common occurrence. To help prevent the chance of collisions, the 2020 Kia Optima is equipped with several standard and available safety features. In this post, we are going to explore these features are what they do. Read on to start learning.
Keeping you safe on all of your road trips
- Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW). Avoiding accidents when changing lanes with BCW. This system will detect when a vehicle has entered one of the blind spot zones. When a vehicle is one of these spots, you will receive an audio and visual warning, so you know not to change lanes.
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assistance with Pedestrian Detection (FCA-Ped). This system will help you avoid any frontal collisions while driving in the city. Using a sensor and a camera on the front end, FCA-Ped will detect pedestrians in the road and send out a warning. It can also automatically apply the brakes to avoid a collision.
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW). Avoid accidentally exiting your lane with these two safety features. When LDW detects that you are leaving your lane unintentionally, LKA will intervene by applying gentle steering to put back into the center of your lane.
- Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go. This system will maintain a predetermined distance from the vehicle ahead of you by adjusting speed. When traffic slows down or stops, the system will bring you to a complete stop if necessary and start again with just a tap to the accelerator.
